Begoña Rentero
Begoña Rentero started working with paper because of her involvement with it through painting, because of its docility and lightness. “I am seduced by its ability to absorb colors, as well as its simplicity. I intend to convey vital intensity, delicacy, and strength, simplicity and sophistication, a dance of contrasts. I watch for looks of surprise, even of bewilderment, that you feel the security of wearing a piece full of strength and enthusiasm, a kind of talisman that accompanies you and highlights your beauty.”
Zanatany Concepts
Raffia weaving is deeply embedded in Malagasy culture. Traditional weaving techniques and patterns reflect the rich cultural heritage and artistic expression of the Malagasy people. By preserving and promoting raffia crafts, we help Madagascar not only to sustain its cultural identity but also share its unique traditions with the world. This initiative embodies the potential for traditional Malagasy crafts to drive modern empowerment, showcasing the profound impact of giving women the tools they need to succeed.
Raffia is a sustainable, biodegradable and eco-friendly material. The cultivation and harvesting of raffia palms do not harm the trees, ensuring a continuous supply of fibers. The promotion of raffia products also supports sustainable agriculture practices and the preservation of Madagascar's unique biodiversity.
Moyuru
Moyuru produces a line of comfortable-to-wear clothing in pursuit of free expression and unrivaled originality based on the idea of a relaxed mind. We pursue Japanese beauty with a theme that constantly revolves around “Contemporary Sophistication (stylishness)”.
Being particular to one yarn. Being particular to one color. We will make one piece of fabric infatuated. Artistic textiles are captured by that moment of chance during painstakingly involved development stages.
The keyword behind our product lineup is art mix with designs focusing on “the Earth”, “the Wind” and “Freedom”; we have ageless and genderless items. Our designs are both simple and dynamic with unique and surprising cutting.
Sarah Cavender
Located in Oxford, Alabama since 1994, Sarah Cavender Metalworks has been changing the jewelry design industry one copper wire at a time. Sarah is a sculptor and artist who found her craft in metal forming. She started with brass screening, developing a technique of treating and folding mesh to create beautiful flower and bug sculptures out of the unique material. The small start has expanded into a full line of jewelry, metal mesh belts and handbags. Every piece is forged with fire and skill speaking to who she is as an artist and designer.
All of Sarah’s designs are created in Sarah’s small shop by local craftspeople under her direct supervision. Each piece is plated or oxidized and then finished by a process of hand painting with bronze powders in a base of lacquer, and then sealed. The delightful colors are individually mixed and custom tinted.

April Artisans and Designers
Jamin Puech
SAVOIR-FAIRE
Jamin Puech is a history of creation between Paris and the world. The designers relentlessly travelled the globe in search of new shapes, crafts and materials. Every piece is a handmade work of art and adorned with elements collected along this treasure hunt: sequins, exotic wood, Asian pearls, gemstones, horn, fur, or cowrie shells from Tahiti.
Yacco Maricard
Three collaborators sought to break away from the constraints of conventional Japanese clothing of the time using oversized shapes in an excess of luxurious natural fabrics that could act as an expression of their lifestyle. Their journey led them to the refinement and mastering of techniques such as the garment dye process and hand placed pin tuck work - characteristics now synonymous with the brand.
AO Dress
AODRESS launched in 2009 after producing uniquely individual pieces of work using cloth and old clothes collected from around the world. Traveling to India in 2012, they met traditional artisan embroidery craftsmen and saw beautiful fabrics created by hand weaving and realized the reality of lost manual work. They then produced dress lines that combine time-honored manual work and traditional techniques with their modern sensibility.
Les Filles D’Ailleurs
Using natural materials and a romantic but functional cut, the brand expresses a certain atemporality and strives to give each piece a tactile dimension. With attention to detail and a subtle way of emphasizing feminine elegance, each piece in the collection tells the story of an inner beauty. It is with a discreet refinement, elegant cuts and a delicate silhouette that designer Gabriela Lissillour seeks the creation of an elegant image for women eager for change.
Pier Antonio Gaspari
A new concept of knitting and total look - EXPERIMENTATION.
Pier Antonio spent his childhood around the threads and looms of his family's company where he fell in love with the creative techniques for turning yarn into beautifully knitted garments with unique adornments. His tops are distinctly original with an architectural feel. The classic patterns and elegant drape flatter every figure. The Summer Collection - ETNO: a beautiful journey around the world, escaping with our imagination.
NRK by Anarkh
NRK was developed in 2013, when Anarkh had grown large and seemed to consist of two very distinct looks. NRK is adventurous in style, and perfect for the modern avant-garde woman who is unapologetically herself. Like Anarkh, NRK also uses sustainable materials for production, with specialty in new tech fabrics that wrinkle less and travel well. Sizing for NRK is more generous, ranging from XXS-XXXL with plenty of one-sizers and yokes on bottoms for easy fit.
Made with love in Brooklyn NYC, for women by women.
Rumi Su
Aiming to avoid taking life too seriously, Rumi Su aspires to seduce all childlike souls with their whimsical, magical creatures in prints on extremely fine cotton. “Our goal is to let our love and curiosity for beauty be a conduit for philanthropy and create a line of ethically manufactured design accessories that give back to their community of origin in Istanbul.
March 2025
March Featured Artist: SOH
Of the many wonderful collections we received in March, SOH from Seoul, South Korea, is among the most fascinating.
SOH is a line born in Seoul in 2022, when Sohee LEE, after two decades in Paris and Tokyo, returned to her native country to launch this project. SOH can be translated as: memories of origin.
The care given to materials and to the art of craftsmanship is at the heart of the collections. The cuts are meant to be minimal, even strict, yet elegant and soft.
Clay Dyeing: first the silk is dyed with a tannin-rich root plant. Then the process of adding iron-rich clay and drying outdoor is repeated several times. After being dried in the sunlight and wind then stocked for six months to several years, the black mud shade is finally obtained.
The process of clay-dye in the specific climate of our region is a natural representation of SOH, characterized by its unique breathability, gloss and texture. As well as antibacterial effects and uv blocking.

A Winter Quarter Update
We had a wonderful winter quarter at Hands On with collections from Portugal, Italy, Australia, Greece and Japan as well as our American artists and artisans. It’s amazing how well these international artists “speak to each other” with their own iconic work. Of course this is where our pleasure lies, in curating a cohesive collection for our gallery from the significant offerings from around the world. In February we saw many artists, old and new, in New York and ordered our Fall/Winter Collections for next season. The hits just keep on coming!

Encouraging a collector's mindset, Taiyety urges customers to see their items as more than just clothes but as pieces of art that can be handed down through generations. Her focus is a Kantha line that is not only comfortable, but contemporary and sophisticated. And its integration with Kimono tradition moves the clothing into a new realm of international relevance.

Kay Chapman
Fabric is the canvas that I use to create my one of a kind and limited edition clothing. I love color, texture and line, combining them to create designs that can go from subtle to bold.
Natural fibers such as silk, cotton, linen and wool are used since they take the dye so nicely and feel great on the body. The fabric is stretched onto a frame where dyes and design are applied by hand. The piece is then steamed to set the dye, washed to remove any excess and is then ready to be made into the desired garment. My goal is to create clothing that flatters the body and is timeless.

Matthildur

Deborah Cross
I am drawn to the interplay of fabric and the body. Each of my pieces is designed with unique fabrics that I create. Art and comfort can coexist in beautiful pieces that express harmony between materials, form, and function. Inspired by this dynamic of color and texture, each collection is one element of an extended process of examining and rethinking my previous design decisions. I strive for a feminine, architectural, modern feel that transcends seasonal trends and has universal appeal.
